Perhaps this says something about male sexuality: that it emerges with such a punch in the groin at adolescence, thanks largely to pubertal testosterone (Udry, Billy, Morris, Groff,& Raj, 1985), and generally sustains itself as such a major force in many mens lives, that some men cannot perceive it could be otherwise in others; hence, they have afalse consensus that everyone has a high, male-like, sexual attraction and drive.

Warfare, Reign, Mystery, Great Day of Wrath of God

The war was won on the cross. Every battle, every enemy, every situation was victoriously overcome by our Champion when He triumphed over the powers and authorities. He disarmed them. He made a public spectacle of them. And now we are to stand.

We are to stand in His victory. Ephesians 6:10 – 18 is the section on the armor of God and how we are to fight. Count the number of times the word “stand’ is used.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

Four times we are to stand – stand our ground. What is our ground on which we are to stand? I repeat, “The war was won on the cross. Every battle, every enemy, every situation was victoriously overcome by our Champion when He triumphed over the powers and authorities. He disarmed them. He made a public spectacle of them. And now we are to stand.”

In the warfare today, God is allowing huge pressures. These are all designed to cause us to rise up and live like who we really are. We are living as mere men. We whine to God, “please, oh please…”  He responds, “I did My part. It is your responsibility. I have given you the power and authority and now it is time to learn to use it. Rise up as My Son. Rise up as part of Christ in the earth. Rise up and reign in love and authority and victory.

`The battle is white hot. I have never experienced such pressures as are on me right now. Financial, physical, emotional, relational – you name it, and the pressure is on. The pressure is on because I need to rise above the circumstances and live like who I am. Christ is to reign here and now, and here and now, Christ is you and me.

For the first time in years, I was unable to pay our rent on time this month. Why is that? Is God broke? Is He having an economic downturn? Are His people not listening? Am I not being faithful? Blah, blah, blah. No. I need to learn how to reign here and now in the heavenlies, where I am seated with Christ. I lack nothing. This is part of the training ground.

Last year, 2011, I had a fourth hip replacement, heart surgery (pacemaker and defibrillator), cataract surgery which has been a nightmare and after which I see more poorly than before the surgery, the ongoing struggle with prostate issues which was diagnosed as cancer at one point, but then the PSA dropped. I was glad the year was over, but this year is keeping pace with last year - Broken elbow, knee just diagnosed as needing replacement for bone on bone and no cartilage, laser surgery on the eyes to help with cataract issues (helped some), continuing stomach issues because of the mass of hernias from the gangrene removal and the beat goes on.

Some would say, “What do you expect? You’re 79 years old and you haven’t taken good care of yourself. All these are common maladies. They are part of what Paul called, ‘light and momentary afflictions.’” All true, but what I expect is to function like who I really am, and not as a mere man. I am looking for what awaits me in heaven to begin to manifest here on earth. My loving God and Father is helping train me to that end.

I do not believe that the millennial reign of Christ means that He will physically descend to the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem and set up a government with offices, functionaries, communications department, public relations department, ambassadors, massive use of cell phones, I pads, television, and all the other devices that are so important to us.

First of all, He is already physically present in Jerusalem. His body is there. The Church of Jerusalem is real. Every person in whom Jesus lives is a member and our Lord is ruling heaven and earth in the interest of His Church and through His Church. Each living part, each individual person, is already an ambassador. The communications department is beyond anything this world knows. “My sheep (all of them) hear My voice.” The great need is for each of us to function like who we really are, and to join with Him in His reign.

.            Jesus will rule the nations with a rod of iron, or an iron scepter, and dash them to pieces like pottery. (Psalm 2:9) And He also says, “To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations -

’He will rule them with an iron scepter, he will dash them to pieces like pottery.’” Rev. 2:26,27

Who is this talking about? Jesus? Or those of us who overcome? Like the previous question about points of tension, the answer is yes. When you hear His voice and do what He wills, you are ruling/He is ruling. Keep it simple and live like who you are. We are co-workers.

In chapter ten of the book of Revelation, one of the scarier parts for those who do not grasp what God is communicating, we read, “But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.” Rev. 10:7

For many this is hugely ominous. You can hear the background music, Dum, te dum dum. “Oh my gosh, what is going to happen?”

It seems that “mystery” is always union or unity. This mystery is made crystal clear by Paul in Ephesians 1:9, 10. “And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment – to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.”

God’s good pleasure is the pleasure, happiness, and joy that our good God gets from what He wills.

He purposed this in Christ. God is doing all this on purpose. He meant to do it from before the world began.

This will be put into effect when the times have reached their fulfillment. Now! Time has reached its last day. It is time now for this to happen.

All things, not some things, not a few, not a partial fulfillment, all things in heaven and on earth come together. This is the union or unity of the mystery of God

All under one head – CHRIST. Every knee will bow. Hopefully in grateful adoration, but every knee will bow.  Every tongue will confess that Jesus the Christ is Lord.

This is the purpose of God in the MACRO. This is the big picture. This is what heaven and earth is all about.

In the MICRO sense it is the same. It is His purpose for each of us individually. God is at work in everything that happens for our good. We love Him. He has called us according to His purpose.  What is this purpose? That we be conformed to the image or likeness of His Son Jesus. (Romans 8:28 – 30.)

This does not fit at this time. I was going to say it does not fit in our time line at this point. The pattern of the seven days and millenniums is clear biblically, but linear thinking, i.e. time lines, does not necessarily compute. This may be circular, or it may be circular and lineal. I can say with great authority, I do not know. I do know this simple concept of a day is like a thousand years has helped me tremendously. I hope it does you also.

Now for the great day of the wrath of God.  (Drum roll, music, dum de dum dum.) It has already happened! It is over. It is finished.

The cup Jesus did not want to drink was the cup of God’s wrath. When God’s sin-bearer hung on the cross, ALL the wrath of God came on Him. When darkness ruled on the earth that day, it was the great day of the wrath of God. When Jesus cried out, “It is finished,” it was finished. Period. End. Over and done with.

Any future wrath will be just spill over for those who refuse to embrace Christ, who somehow resist God’s purpose for all things. But for all those in Christ, we await the wonderful appointed time of judgment when we will receive our praise from God.

             Keep it simple, saints.

             Live like who you are.
